DVSA 2026 List

Show Me, Tell Me Questions — 2026 DVSA List

Every current DVSA show-me and tell-me question, with answers our ADIs use on test day.

At the start of every UK practical driving test, the examiner asks one 'tell me' (vehicle safety) question before you drive, and one 'show me' (vehicle safety) question while you drive. Get one wrong and it's a single minor; get both wrong and it's still just one minor — but knowing them cold is the easiest mark on the test.

Frequently asked questions

How many show-me tell-me questions are there?+

There are around 14 tell-me and 7 show-me questions on the current DVSA list, updated periodically.

What happens if I get one wrong?+

One incorrect answer counts as a single minor (driving fault). Multiple incorrect answers still only count as one minor in total.

Are the questions different for automatic cars?+

Mostly the same, but some clutch- and gear-specific questions don't apply. Hybrid and EV cars have a few unique safety questions.

Do you cover these in every lesson?+

Yes — our instructors weave show-me / tell-me practice into every lesson so they become automatic by test day.
